Yo Tomura

 

Born and raised in Tokyo, Japan,
Yo Tomura is a digital designer at ALTEMY.
He also works at Kyoto Institute of Technology as a project researcher.
Licensed First Class UAV (drone) Pilot in Japan.

Formally worked as a digital design consultant at Gehry Technologies in Los Angeles. He graduated from SCI-Arc MArch II program in 2018, California where he is developing his skills and knowledge towards advanced technology in architecture and design. He received a Bachelor of Architecture at Waseda University in Tokyo in 2014 and was in Master of Architecture. Yo Tomura has worked at Kengo Kuma Associates as an intern operating with computational design for a Tokyo University campus building. He has worked as an intern designing the New National Stadium for Tokyo Olympic 2020, when it was still moving forward with Zaha Hadid’ s scheme at Nikken Skkei Ltd., the largest architectural design firm in Japan. These experiences gave him knowledge related to scripting, project management and computational design within the architecture field.

Yo Tomura believes we are facing the moment of paradigm shift in the architecture field, where technology is making revolutionary changes within all fields of architecture. As an architect of the future, he is continuously pursuing the possibilities of designing architecture with new technologies such as Artificial Intelligence.
